Everybody Rocks offers classes for every age group.
Everybody Rocks offer music classes that share common values. We strive to demonstrate our belief that organic growth, listening, and group play foster ideal dynamic learning environments. Everybody Rocks is engaged with Common Core and looks to reflect strong national teaching standards.
Our Flagship class is Rock Band Class. Students of all ages have the opportunity to experiment and learn the basic gestures of playing the instruments in the rock band class setting: guitar, drums, keyboard, bass and singing.
AGES 4-6: Students learn how to play in a group setting and have the opportunity to gravitate toward instruments of interest.
AGES 7-10: Older children often look to reinforce rock band classes with lessons on the instrument that suits them.
AGES 11 & OLDER: Students are introduced to more technical aspects of music, given more responsibility for individual learning, and encouraged to synthesize listening and playing to create a well-rounded musician. Often, students this age are moved into private classes that happen at families’ convenience.
Everybody Rocks provides a variety of instrument classes including guitar, piano, bass and drums. If your school needs other instrument classes or lessons Everybody rocks can help find just the right teaching artist for your needs. Each instrument provides a window into music-making. Classes are tailored to age and skill level. Our teaching artists work on developing curricula and online content that is easily accessible as well as interesting and inspiring.
ORGANIC LEARNING: Organic learning allows students to learn music he or she already loves.
BUILDING BLOCKS: The building blocks of music learning are introduced and nurtured by attentive instructors.
TEACHERS: Lesson teachers are selected based on the needs of your family with lessons scheduled at your convenience.
GUITAR: Whether learning beginning chords, are already a proficient player, or are looking to dust off skills that have been dormant, Everybody Rocks will find the right teacher for your class or lesson. As we guide your child through music making we seek to broaden taste, increase experimentation and open ears.
PIANO: Piano lessons can be disastrous without the right teacher. If you meet an adult who claims to be musically useless, chances are they had a negative piano experience as a younger person. Our piano teachers tailor lessons around your child’s interests while pursuing the keyboard skills. Choose piano teachers wisely, parents!
DRUMS: Every child wants to hit the drums! And why not? They are loud, and provide immediate musical gratification. Our drum teachers know how to channel that initial musical excitement and help develop a strong musician who knows how to play.
BASS: Often overlooked, the bass roots any group in good grooves. Some people are drawn to the bass inextricably. If your child is geeking out over the bass, go for it! Like a good drummer, a good bass player understands her role and also everybody else’s. Building skills with small hands requires a patient and understanding Everybody Rocks teacher.
Used as an alternative to the traditional instrument class, songwriting can be used as the vehicle which inspires children to pursue music making. We use our imaginations to bring ideas and stories to life. Often children address cultural, political and emotional ideas using the safety and comfort of song in order to better understand his/her world. Used in tandem with instruments, students end up playing them almost as an aside, in order to better create the songs living in their imaginations, organically building musical skills.
Our voice is our first instrument and learning how to use it as an expressive melodic instrument can bring joy, self-awareness and better health to those who participate. Repertoire is tailored to each group’s dynamics. Performances can take place at the end of sessions and during the holidays. Songs are selected in similar fashion to Everybody Rocks classes; students actively participate in voting for music to play and original compositions are created.
Bringing generations together to share music has been a dream of this organization for a very long time. Everybody Rocks has had after-school programming in over twenty schools throughout the Chicagoland area since our inception. We have a vibrant and growing community of families. Our students are excited about music and love to perform (no child is made to perform if he or she does not want to). Bringing Everybody Rocks families together to share music is a joy.
Classes vary in price depending on number of students and amount of equipment needed. Everybody Rocks classes do not require instrument purchases or rental. Instrument lessons do require students rental/purchase. Everybody Rocks offers rental/purchase opportunities. Overall, classes cost between $15-$20 per class per student. Lessons are $35-$65 per lesson. Please contact Nathan@EverybodyRocks

Whether looking for corporate team building activities, fun diversions for gatherings, personal musical growth, or are looking to “put the band back together”, Everybody Rocks can provide the teachers, excitement and musical knowledge needed to help increase musicality, solidarity and enjoyment.
Everybody Rocks teams up with organisations looking to help our wounded veterans. We strive to bring the joy of song to those who need it and no one has earned the right to let loose in song more than those returning from armed conflict. Music is our common language and provides creative outlets, healing and a chance to change the conversation and refocus on those extending a helping hand.
Our Flagship class is Rock Band Class. People of all ages have the opportunity to experiment and learn the basic gestures of playing the instruments in the rock band class setting: guitar, drums, keyboard, bass and singing.
Participants have the opportunity to learn songs on guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals. Songs are voted on and chosen by participants. The teaching artist guides the “rock band” as they learn to play together. Music playing skills are built organically, with participants free to experiment with different instruments. Group playing also builds listening and social skills. And it Rocks.
Whether learning an instrument one has always wanted to learn or returning to music once played, instrument classes and lessons provide unique opportunities. The benefits are many. The key to quality music classes is to have a teacher sensitive enough to listen to the needs of his or her students and be able to adapt, while also knowing how to steer classes toward improved skills and musical growth.
How do we learn to create songs? Where does it come from? It comes from within, and with the help of a creative guiding hand, songs can reveal a side of us to which we did not have ready access. Not sure where to start? It starts with sitting down together and working through multiple avenues to song. Everybody Rocks can help.
Repertoire is tailored to each group’s dynamics. Performances take place at the end of sessions or during the holidays. People from all walks of life benefit from the therapeutic value of participation in singing, particularly in relation to creating energy, positive emotional experience and relaxation.

Bring looks of astonishment to the faces of children and grandchildren by playing songs they love! Learning songs from different generations gives us the chance to build understanding and new connections with the people we love.

Personal playlists can be created for people across the spectrum of mental and emotional states. Playlists are created so this music can be accessed on a variety of devices. Soundtrack of Your Life sessions can be explored in multiple directions: aural history documentation, memory recollection, songwriting, prose and essay writing, painting, or lead into instrument classes or lessons. Technology awareness is built into this activity, guided by teaching artists.
The instructor takes ideas from students, quickly makes rhymes, helps to guide verse, chorus, bridge, and improvising sections. In so doing, the class creates a unique song while at the same time demonstrating (one way) to compose a song. By session’s end, not only has a body of work been created, participants have also created moving and unique stories in song.
A variation for people with dementia would involve showing pictures to participants to help elicit responses and then using responses to create songs.
Classes span different genres with teaching artists speaking about, performing and playing recordings of various genres, instruments, time periods, etc. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, discuss, recollect and suggest avenues future classes might take.
Studies show that time spent actively listening improves one’s ability to hear speech in noise, which helps people remain socially active. Whether picking out specific instruments within a piece, counting the beat of a song, or meditating on the lyrics to a song, active listening enriches participants’ lives.
